School Emergency Drills

Fire Drills (5 required)

3 must be held by December 1 of the school year

Tornado Drills (2 required)

At least 1 must take place in March

Lockdown/Secured Building Drills (3 required)

Drills in which the occupants are restricted to the interior of the building

At least 1 taking place by December 1 of the school year and at least 1 taking place after January 1 of the school year

Requirements

  • Schools must have a "reasonable" spacing interval between each drill
  • 1 drill must take place during a lunch or recess period when a significant number of students are gathered but not in the classroom
  • Documentation of each school safety drill will be posted on the District website within 30 school days after the drill is completed
