Oak Park Preparatory Academy is a middle school which services students in grades six through eight and is currently located on the site of the former “Roosevelt Middle School” in Oak Park Michigan.
Our mission is to provide a positive middle school experience where adolescent learners are prepared academically, socially, and emotionally for successful transition to high school and beyond. With a highly qualified and dedicated team of instructors, we are able to offer a rigorous and relevant curriculum embedded in standards-based teaching and learning, while providing the differentiated instruction needed for all students to receive a valuable learning experience.
The Oak Park Preparatory Academy values its commitment to developing the “whole” child. With this in mind we offer a variety of student clubs and organizations as well as competitive sports teams to further help develop student social and leadership skills. Schools share overall responsibility for education with the student’s home, family, and surrounding community.
Parental support at home and direct involvement in school life are key factors in student achievement and attitude toward school. Developing school partnerships with civic organizations and businesses enhances educational opportunities. Likewise, creating student service projects enriches the community and promotes civic responsibility.
Students reach their full potential when schools, parents, and community support one another in meeting the needs of junior high school students. We believe that the blend of middle school programs and instruction combined with the partnership of students, teachers, parents, and community provide the structure needed for the successful transition of adolescents from elementary to high school.
In this way, middle school education contributes to students becoming life-long learners and responsible, compassionate citizens in a diverse society. The Oak Park Preparatory Academy continues the Oak Park School District’s tradition of providing an effective and comprehensive educational program designed to meet the developmental needs of our adolescent learners.
