Greetings NOVA Academy Families,

Welcome to the 2025–2026 school year! It is my honor to introduce myself as the new Principal of NOVA Academy, and I am proud to serve our students, families, and community. This year represents a new chapter for our school—one grounded in excellence, connection, and opportunity for every Scholar.

At NOVA Academy, we will be guided by the power of NOVA:

  • Nurturing Relationships – Every student will be known, valued, and supported.

  • Outstanding Achievement – We will set high expectations and equip students to meet them.

  • Vision for the Future – Inspiring bold goals beyond high school.

  • Accountability – Holding ourselves and our Scholars to the highest standards.

Alongside this vision, our work will be anchored in Four Pillars that define the NOVA experience:

  1. Scholar Success – Every Scholar will have the tools, resources, and encouragement to thrive academically and personally.

  2. Empowered Leaders – Students will learn to lead with integrity, influence, and service to others.

  3. Future Readiness – We will prepare our Scholars to navigate college, career, and life with confidence and purpose.

  4. Thriving School Culture – Our school will be a safe, inclusive, and inspiring environment where every Scholar feels they belong.

I am deeply committed to ensuring NOVA Academy is a place where every Scholar is seen, challenged, and celebrated. Together, as partners, we will shape the leaders of tomorrow. Let us make this year one of growth, discovery, and excellence.

With pride and gratitude,
Mr. Mario Evans
Principal, NOVA Academy

NOVA provides a smaller learning environment to educate students, in the third through twelfth grades, who need an alternative to the traditional academic setting. Non-traditional learners are supported by highly qualified teachers who provide personalized learning opportunities, character development, credit recovery and flexible learning schedules for students with unique academic or social emotional needs. In addition to the faculty, NOVA is staffed with a school counselor, social worker, and interventionists. NOVA is equipped with interactive boards, document cameras, and laptop carts to support the learning needs of students.

The NOVA staff has high expectations for students and provides opportunities for students to self-reflect, learn conflict management and develop study habits to provide a toolkit of strategies prior to their transition to a traditional academic setting. In addition to the use of a restorative ethos to build relationships and community, which establishes a foundation for students to reach their full academic potential. The success of our students is not only due to our highly quality staff, committed to meeting the needs of all learners but to the support of our families who partner with us to support the learning outcomes.
