Saturday Scholars

STEAM Program w/ Oakland University School of Medicine

The Oakland University Saturday Scholars Program is a medical student-led initiative to engage local high school students who are interested in a career in medicine. Started in 2018, the program runs each semester, with first- and second-year medical students co-teaching with a Foundational Medical Sciences faculty member on human anatomy and social determinants of health concepts. The group also participates in a panel discussion with the high school students about their own journey into medical school. A donor from our community has provided funding to support our female 10-12th grade students to attend this winter and we are planning to return with our male 10th-12th grade students for a second session.
