Oak Park Schools Announces New Principal for Key Elementary School: Demilla Prince

Oak Park, MI, May 15, 2024 — Oak Park Schools is thrilled to announce that Demilla Prince has been appointed as the new Principal of Key Elementary School effective July 1, 2024. Prince is an accomplished and dedicated educator with a robust passion for fostering student success and driving positive change within educational communities.

Demilla Prince brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to educational excellence. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and her Master's in Educational Leadership from Oakland University. Prince began her career as a fourth-grade teacher at Pontiac Academy of Excellence, where she distinguished herself by winning the Teacher of the Year award.

Over the past 11 years, Prince has honed her skills and developed innovative teaching methods to engage students from diverse backgrounds and learning styles. For the past seven years, she has been an integral part of the Oak Park School District. Prince has served as an ELA teacher, a content area lead teacher, dean of culture, and most recently, as the assistant principal of Oak Park Preparatory Academy.

Driven by a deep-seated belief in the transformative power of education, Prince is committed to fostering a school culture that celebrates diversity, encourages creativity, and prioritizes student well-being. She firmly believes in the importance of creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment where every student feels valued, respected, and empowered to reach their full potential.
