Oak Park Schools Welcomes Deshayla Wright as K-12 ELA and Continuous Improvement Coordinator

Oak Park Schools is proud to welcome Ms. Deshayla Wright as our new K-12 ELA and Continuous Improvement Coordinator. This role is particularly meaningful for Ms. Wright, as she is a proud graduate of Oak Park High School and now returns to give back to the district that helped shape her educational journey.

After graduating from Oak Park, Ms. Wright earned a full scholarship to the University of Detroit Mercy, where she further cultivated her passion for literacy and educational equity. She is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in Educational Leadership and Policy, reinforcing her deep commitment to enhancing student learning experiences and empowering educators.

Throughout her career, Ms. Wright has served as an ELA teacher, instructional coach, and Director of Academics, with a strong focus on student achievement, teacher development, and curriculum innovation. Her passion for literacy is driven by the belief that strong reading and writing skills are the foundation for lifelong success.

As she steps into this role, Ms. Wright is eager to bring:

        •       Equity and access for all learners – ensuring every student, regardless of background or ability, receives the support and resources needed to thrive.

Ms. Wright is excited to collaborate with Oak Park Schools’ educators, families, and community members to enhance literacy instruction and promote continuous academic improvement. She welcomes the opportunity to connect and partner with all stakeholders in the district.
