Oak Park Schools Celebrate National Reading Month with Special Guests and Exciting Events

As March comes to a close, Oak Park Schools proudly wrap up another inspiring National Reading Month. This year’s celebration was filled with excitement as students enjoyed visits from outstanding guest readers, including Ms. Black America, Ashley Myatt; Local 4 news anchor, Rhonda Walker; Oak Park City Manager, Eric Tungate; and Michigan State Senator, Mallory McMorrow. These special guests shared their love for reading and encouraged students to embrace literacy as a lifelong journey.

A major highlight of the month was the generous book donation at Einstein Elementary. Through the Scripps Howard Foundation’s “If You Give a Child a Book” program, students received copies of Dog Man by renowned author Dav Pilkey. This gift not only brought smiles to students’ faces but also reinforced the importance of building personal libraries and fostering a love for reading at an early age.

While National Reading Month may be over, the excitement around literacy continues. Oak Park Schools remain committed to encouraging students to explore the world through books, proving that reading isn’t just for March—it’s for a lifetime!
