Oak Park Schools Welcomes Back Yvonne Hammond Taylor!

Yvonne Taylor

Oak Park Schools is thrilled to welcome back Yvonne Hammond Taylor to Oak Park Preparatory Academy (OPPA) as part of our dynamic leadership team! With deep roots in our district and a passion for student success, Mrs. Taylor brings a wealth of experience, dedication, and visionary leadership to our school community.

Mrs. Taylor’s journey in education began right here in Oak Park Schools, where she dedicated eleven years to teaching Middle School Math, followed by twelve years as a Title I teacher. Her commitment to academic excellence and student achievement then led her to Southfield Public Schools, where she most recently served as the K–12 Math and Science Supervisor for six years.

A proud Michigan State University alumna, Mrs. Taylor holds a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education (Math and Communications), as well as a Master’s in Educational Leadership (Urban Studies), earned through a partnership between Oak Park Schools and Western Michigan University.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Mrs. Taylor is a devoted mother to two amazing adult children—Jordan, a Western Michigan University graduate, and Jada, who will soon be an MSU alumna.

As she steps into her leadership role at OPPA, Mrs. Taylor is eager to work alongside students, families, and staff to cultivate a culture of excellence, innovation, and student success. Her servant, transformational, and visionary leadership will be instrumental in strengthening our school community and ensuring every student thrives.

We are excited for the future of OPPA under Mrs. Taylor’s guidance and look forward to an incredible year ahead!

Welcome home, Mrs. Taylor!
